 Concrete Maintenance

Smooth Finished Concrete

Regular Cleaning • Dust & Debris Removal – Sweep daily or use a dust mop to prevent dirt buildup. • Mopping & Washing – Use a damp mop with a mild pH-neutral cleaner to prevent grime accumulation. • Pressure Washing – Use a low to moderate setting (1,500–2,500 PSI) to clean outdoor surfaces, avoiding excessive pressure that could etch the surface. Stain Prevention & Removal • Oil & Grease – Clean spills immediately using a degreaser or mild detergent with warm water. • Rust Stains – Apply a diluted vinegar solution or use a commercial rust remover. • Mold & Mildew – Clean with a diluted bleach solution (1:10 ratio) or a mold/mildew remover. Sealing for Protection Use a Penetrating Sealer – Protects against moisture, stains, and wear without altering the slick surface. Reapply Every 2–3 Years – Especially in high-traffic or outdoor areas. Damage Prevention & Repair • Avoid Heavy Impact - Dropping heavy objects can cause chips or cracks. • Fix Cracks Promptly – Use a concrete patch or epoxy filler to prevent further damage. • Prevent Surface Scaling – Avoid using harsh deicing salts in winter. Instead, use sand for traction.

Broom Finished Concrete

Regular Cleaning • Regularly sweep or use a leaf blower to remove dirt, leaves, and debris. • Pressure Washing – Use a pressure washer (1,500–2,500 PSI) occasionally to remove built-up grime. Avoid excessive pressure to prevent surface damage. • Mild Detergents – For stains, use mild soap or a concrete cleaner with a stiff-bristle brush. Avoid harsh chemicals that could degrade the concrete. • Stain Prevention & Removal • Oil & Grease – Use an absorbent material like cat litter, then scrub with a degreaser. Rust Stains – Apply a mixture of white vinegar and water or a concrete rust remover. • Mold & Mildew – Use a diluted bleach solution (1:10 ratio) or a commercial concrete cleaner. Sealing • Apply a Concrete Sealer – Sealing every 2–3 years helps protect against moisture, stains, and freeze-thaw damage. • Choose the Right Sealer – Use a penetrating sealer for a natural look or a film-forming sealer for added surface protection. Winter Care • Avoid Deicing Salts – Use sand instead of rock salt to prevent surface scaling. • Shovel Early – Promptly remove snow to reduce freeze-thaw damage. • Use Plastic or Rubber Shovels – Metal shovels can scrape and damage the finish.

Stamped Concrete

Regular Cleaning • Dust & Debris Removal – Sweep daily or use a dust mop to prevent dirt buildup. • Mopping & Washing – Use a damp mop with a mild pH-neutral cleaner to prevent grime accumulation. • Pressure Washing – Use a low to moderate setting (1,500–2,500 PSI) to clean outdoor surfaces, avoiding excessive pressure that could etch the surface. • Stain Prevention & Removal Oil & Grease – Clean spills immediately using a degreaser or mild detergent with warm water. • Rust Stains – Apply a diluted vinegar solution or use a commercial rust remover. • Mold & Mildew – Clean with a diluted bleach solution (1:10 ratio) or a mold/mildew remover. Sealing for Protection • Use a Penetrating Sealer – Protects against moisture, stains, and wear without altering the slick surface. • Reapply Every 2–3 Years – Especially in high-traffic or outdoor areas. • Non-Slip Additives (Optional) – If slipperiness is a concern, a sealer with a fine grit additive can enhance traction. Damage Prevention & Repair • Avoid Heavy Impact – Dropping heavy objects can cause chips or cracks. • Fix Cracks Promptly – Use a concrete patch or epoxy filler to prevent further damage. • Prevent Surface Scaling – Avoid using harsh deicing salts in winter. Instead, use sand for traction.
